Stamps By Al
A form of gratitude was filled out, mailed, and set at the desk of Al. Al sat at a desk in a row of 43 desks, each meticulously set with the accouterment designated for gratitude processing. He worked GP for the last 12 years, moved from empathy translation, where he sluggishly maintained his mid level role as empathy translation manager. His coworkers and those whom he managed never showed Al kindness for they could not empathize with someone without arms. How could you if you had two arms that you could use for high fives.
Al took the envelope the form of gratitude was in, opened it with his steel letter opener with the leather grip, and delicately opened the envelope, releasing a crisp piece of paper folded in three places as if folded by the Gods themselves. He looked up at the screen that was some 7 rows of desks in front of him and read The Questions, the same questions he had read thousands of times before:
1. Are all of the boxes filled in with words?
2. Are the words English?
3. Are the words legible?
If the answer was no to any of those questions, he would take the form to the gratitude processing facilitator who would then take the form to the gratitude processing mediator who would then take the form to the gratitude processing return center.
If the answer to all of those questions was yes, he would read The Instructions below The Questions:
Step One: Decide whether the person deserves gratitude
Step Two: Stamp your decision onto the form
He only ever picked up one stamp, so only one of his ink pads were ever in use. It was nearly dry by this point.
